Bokashi Compost Starter bran – 2kg

Bokashi Starter, packed in a 2kg bag, is the fermentation activator for composting with the bokashi method.

Consists of wheat bran impregnated with effective EM® micro-organisms.

Used to compost food scraps (raw, cooked, citrus and even animal protein scraps) by going through a fermentation stage in a bokashi bucket. Sprinkle a good handful (50ml) of Starter for every litre (3-4cm) of food material to be treated.

A 2 kg bag is usually enough to compost the food waste of two people over 10 to 12 months.

Bokashi activator can also be used as a compost activator, to limit odours in your ‘orange bag’ or to improve the life of your plant soil.

The sealed bag, stored away from light and heat, can be kept for up to one year without any problems.

Once opened, transfer some of the Starter to an airtight container for daily use. This will prevent you from having to reach into the big bag every day and will preserve the quality of your Starter.

Close the bag tightly, making sure to let out as much air as possible. Store it away from moisture, direct sunlight and heat.
